Mt. P. Waterworks uses solar to cut down on pumping costs

Mount Pleasant Waterworks (MPW) delivers more than 8 million gallons per day (MGD) of clean safe water and treats more than 8 MGD of wastewater. Water collected from the Middendorf Aquifer is treated at one of MPW’s four state-of-the-art Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plants. MPW operates two wastewater treatment plants that can treat a total of 9.7 MGD of wastewater.

In addition to the water and wastewater plants, MPW’s collection system includes 160 pump stations. These plants and pumps require significant power, which makes MPW one of the largest power consumers in the Mount Pleasant area.
